Regulatory and Environmental Impact Assessment:
the timing of digital switchover

DCMS and DTI have today published a Regulatory and Environmental Impact Assessment setting out the overall impact of completing digital switchover between 2008 and 2012 on consumers and businesses, and the broad measures that the Government has developed with the public service broadcasters and Ofcom to manage the overall effects on consumers and non-domestic TV users.

Although the timetable has now been confirmed, this is very much the starting point for the implementation of digital switchover.

DCMS and DTI would welcome views on the impacts described here to make sure that the programme for implementation takes account all the wider effects of this major transformation programme.
