DCMS/Chartered Institute of Housing Good Practice Briefing on Digital Switchover

Digital Switchover will be a major event in the history of television marking the final stage of television from analogue to digital. Switchover will bring with it challenges not only for viewers but for landlords and managing agents who providing access to television services to residents. The Government has said that digital switchover will be completed between 2008 and 2012. Some regions will start the switch in three years time, so the work to update communal TV systems for digital reception needs to start now.

DCMS and the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) have today (11 August) published a Good Practice Briefing on Digital Switchover. This sets out the implications of digital switchover for the housing sector, giving clear and objective advice on the options available.

The Briefing is aimed at housing professionals - social and private sector landlords, managing agents, housing management and technical staff who are responsible for the management, procurement and maintenance of properties. The Briefing is particularly relevant for professionals who are responsible for properties that have communal TV systems. The Briefing may also be of interest to residents' groups who want to raise the issues discussed with their landlord and managing agent.
